30 Nov Going beyond the page at formnext
Think about the last 12 months in technology and you begin to appreciate the speed of development and how it’s impacting the world. Self-driving cars are becoming a reality. Facial recognition now unlocks your phone. Artificial Intelligence defeated the 18-time world champion of fiendishly difficult board game Go.
All technology sectors are contributing to this pace of change. For the print industry, nowhere has this been magnified more over the past year than this month at formnext.
Ricoh has exhibited at the event for the past three years – and it’s clearly a conference that’s on the up. This year was without doubt the most innovative iteration yet. New materials, use cases and products were discussed in detail, while industry colleagues shared success stories and ideas for future developments in what was a truly exciting show.
For us at Ricoh, formnext provided the perfect platform to reaffirm ourselves as a leader in additive manufacturing. It was also a great opportunity to demonstrate the continuous evolution of our products and services.
During the event we had several hundred positive conversations with prospects and met with leading industry analysts to discuss our future plans. We also took the opportunity to announce a new customer in Materialise, who will be using our RICOH AM S5500P to drive their additive manufacturing innovation. Finally, we discussed our exciting partnership with BASF which includes the research of new materials, processing and application development – core building blocks in the 3D printing market.
Make no mistake; additive manufacturing is shifting fast. Shows such as formnext underline how this upbeat industry is developing in many exciting ways.
